Our publishing house was established in early 2020.
We publish high-quality prose, both Czech and international, and non-fiction literature focusing on history as well as significant issues of the present. We place particular emphasis on Czech-German relations and totalitarian regimes and ideologies of the 20th century. We are open to all genres, from fiction and poetry to memoirs, biographies and diaries, as well as non-fiction, essays and scholarly works.
Besides contemporary literature we publish the edition WORLD’S CLASSICS, dealing with well-known or even lesser-known works of outstanding voices of the world literature of the past centuries, with or without translation history in Czech.
Our portfolio is prepared in collaboration with prominent Czech translators and experienced book editors.
We appreciate that innumerable and diverse publishers are active in the Czech market, many of which have a long record of high-quality publishing work – and yet we have decided to establish the MARATON publishing house. We are confident that it will benefit the reader and that this long-term effort of ours will meet with success.
