Ioana Maria Stăncescu studied French language and literature at the University of Bucharest and works as a journalist in the French section of the Radio România International. She made her literary debut in 2020 with the novel Tot ce i-am promis tatălui meu (Everything I Promised My Father), which was nominated for the Sofia Nădejde Prize in the prose debut category and won an award for the best first novel at the Chambéry Festival. She has participated in a literary creative workshop and contributed to the prose anthology Retroversiuni: Blocaje (Retroversions: Blockades).
