Pavlyuk, Illarion

Illarion Pavliuk is a writer and author of bestsellers such as Я бачу, вас цікавить пітьма (I See That You Are Interested in Darkness) and Танець недоумка (The Dance of a Fool). In 2015, he participated in the Russian-Ukrainian war as part of a volunteer battalion, and from the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he was mobilized into a reconnaissance unit of the Ukrainian army. Since 2023, he has been the head of the press and information department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. At the same time, he is also a television documentary filmmaker and producer.

He was born in 1980 in the city of Skadovsk in the Kherson region. He spent his childhood with his parents in eastern Russia, on Sakhalin. After returning to Ukraine, he settled in Luhansk. He graduated from the V. Dalia East Ukrainian National University (Luhansk) with a degree in journalism. In 2001, he moved to Kyiv, where he began his media career as a journalist. He worked as an international reporter specializing in the Arab-Israeli conflict.
